Wilshire Boulevard Temple ,West Los Angeles, CA The campus is located on a 3.4 acre urban site. The master plan includes first phase buildings in an educational quadrangle around a paved and trellised courtyard and stair tower. Playgrounds and parking surround a second grassed area which eventually will be the focal point of a cloister of religious and administrative buildings. Construction included 45,000 sq.ft. of new space and 35,000 sq.ft. of recycled hospital space. Bands of Jerusalem stone and a second level walkway reminiscent of the upper level pedestrian street in the "old city" of Jerusalem are used to unify and tie the complex together. Housed in 1,2 & 3 level buildings, the first phase program provides for 180 preschool children, 450 day school students, 3 libraries, a chapel/auditorium, gymnasium, and dining hall, along with a community center including art, dance, computer resource center, 4th library, and conference rooms. |
